Nicole Ari Parker, an American actress who has appeared in film and on television, as well as on stage, is most well-known for playing Teri Joseph, a fiery attorney featured in Showtime's Soul Food. The actress is known under her maiden name of Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an interest in acting from childhood and received a Best Actress award in the Maryland high school competition. In the years following her involvement in acting and in "The Washington Ballet Company" and "The Washington Ballet Company", she earned an acting certificate from New York University. There was a lot of praise after her debut big performance in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. There followed films like "Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. Soul Food was an immensely loved TV show. The actress was featured in TV programs such as Second Time Around, and Empire. Prior to that, she was in numerous stage productions. Parker, a politician who plays an active part in the realm of fashion and acting, is currently married to Boris Kodjoe. They have two children.
The family was born from Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria until the age of seven. Contractor was well-informed about world travels and a variety of cultures at a very young age. When she was seven until nine, Contractor went to boarding school in London. The family later relocated to Toronto where she lived throughout her early years. Contractor was a successful academic in Toronto and also trained as the ballerina. She attended an Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school, where she did not only dance but also studied theater. Contractor decided to take acting more seriously at age of 16 following almost 10 years dancing. When she graduated from high-school and was awarded a full scholarship for tuition to University of Toronto where she pursued theatre studies with a double degrees in Sociology and Psychology. Contractor auditioned at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After an entire year, she was awarded the lead part. In 2002, Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 performances of the play. Contractor was offered the opportunity to join Stratford's conservatory program, where only eight males and four females are selected for a course lasting 20 weeks in classical theatre, which she was eager to take. The actress's spot in the next stage season was securing and she was offered the part in the play as Hermia.
